The Dublin rivals were due to meet on Friday, 30 August at Dalymount Park but due to the Hoops’ European commitments, the game has been switched to the following Sunday.
Stephen Bradley’s side, currently fifth in the league, beat Celje last night in the Europa League qualification round three and are guaranteed to play group stage football over the coming months.
If they can overcome Greece’s PAOK over two legs, Rovers will play in the Europa League, otherwise they will drop down to the Conference League.
The League of Ireland fixture against the Gypsies, eighth in the division, will now take place at Dalymount Park on Sunday, 1 September with an early kick-off time of 11.30am due to a concert taking place at Croke Park later that day.
