Drogheda United's teenage goalkeeper Andrew Wogan has agreed a deal to join League One side Stockport County, but he will stay at Weavers Park on loan until the end of the SSE Airtricity Men's Premier Division season.

The Drogs said on Monday evening that 18-year-old will go across the water "for a club record fee".

Wogan has been at the Louth club since 2020 when he came into their Under-15s side from Ardee Celtic.

He made swift and steady progress before stepping up to Kevin Doherty's first team in 2023.

Wogan made his league debut away to Shelbourne 13 months ago, making a total of 21 appearances last season, and winning Young Player of the Year for the 2023 campaign.

He's been capped for the Republic of Ireland at Under-19 and Under-21 level.

"Andy is an excellent young goalkeeper with a really bright future ahead of him," said Doherty.

"His temperament is so good, and he’s been excellent for us. As a club, we take pride in giving young players a chance, and it highlights the really good work being done at our academy.

"It was very important to us that Andy was coming back on loan, and I’m delighted we could agree to that as we prepare for the remainder of the season."

Bohemians have announced the signing of forward Alex Greive on a multi-year contract from St. Mirren.

Greive has represented New Zealand at senior level and joins Ross Tierney, Leigh Kavanagh and Archie Meekison in making the move to Dalymount Park during this transfer window.

"I am delighted to get Alex on board. He's quick, he’s sharp and he is going to be a real handful for defenders," said Bohemians manager Alan Reynolds.

Greive added: "I was aware that Bohs are one of the biggest clubs in Ireland so once I heard they were looking at me, I was very interested.

"I've had good conversations with the gaffer about what he wants to achieve here and I am really looking forward to being a part of that.

"I feel I am an energetic player and very hard working, I like to get in behind defenders and cause them problems, and I want to help get the club to where it wants to be.

"I know Nando Pijnaker (Sligo Rovers) and Max Mata (former Sligo Rovers) from the New Zealand set-up and I know from them how good the standard is in the league here, so I am looking forward to the challenge.

"I know Archie from being with Dundee United last season too and Jake Carroll from when we were both in Glasgow so there are a few familiar faces at the club already.

"I’ve trained with the team the last two days and have really enjoyed it. There is a great set-up here and the manager is ambitious, and I am really looking forward to getting started now."
