Suspended goalkeeper George Shelvey has left Dundalk, the club has announced.
Shelvey was dismissed after the full-time whistle after becoming involved in an incident with officials in Weavers Park.
An Independent Disciplinary Committee of the FAI sanctioned the former Nottingham Forest goalkeeper "for a breach of regulations on racism/discrimination" in "abuse towards a match official", with reports suggesting he had called referee Rob Harvey an "Irish c***".
Shelvey apologised and did not appeal one of the longest bans in League of Ireland history, the club saying at the time that he "did not, at first, comprehend the discriminatory aspect of his words" and vowing to "work with George to develop his understanding of these issues."
However, Dundalk announced today that the player, who arrived from Nottingham Forest in February and made nine appearances, has now agreed to leave Oriel Park.
"Following conversations with George Shelvey, Dundalk FC has agreed to mutually end the player’s contract with the club," a statement read.
"We would like to wish George the best of luck in the future."
