St Patrick's Athletic have sacked manager Jon Daly after a seventh defeat of the Premier Division season.

The Saints have slipped to seventh place in the table following a 1-0 loss to Sligo Rovers on Monday.

Daly led Pat's to an FAI Cup final last year, just months into his time in charge in Inchicore.

However he departs the club this morning after a year at the helm.

Pat's chairman Garrett Kelleher said: "We would like to thank Jon for his time at the club, and in particular our FAI Cup success at the Aviva Stadium last November.

"We wish Jon the very best for the future."

Daly was assistant manager to Tim Clancy before getting the top job.

Clancy was also let go by Pat's, also following a 1-0 defeat to Sligo a year ago this week.

Just 12 months on, Daly has suffered the same fate.

There has been no announcement on an interim management team ahead of Friday's game away to Shamrock Rovers.
