Keith Treacy says that Stephen Kenny would be a huge coup for Bohemians but he questions whether the former Republic of Ireland manager will want to return to the SSE Airtricity League so soon.
The Dalymount Park outfit are on the hunt for a new manager after parting ways with Declan Devine earlier this week. The Gypsies had a poor finish to their 2023 season, missing out on Europe, and with the new campaign heralding just four points from the opening four games the club elected to move in a different direction.
Kenny is currently available after the FAI chose not to give him a new contract with Ireland at the end of last year. The association are still searching for the Dubliner's full-time successor; John O'Shea is set to take the reins for upcoming friendlies against Belgium and Switzerland.
Kenny regularly spoke about how the national gig was his dream job. He previously managed Bohs, as well as Derry City, Longford Town, Shamrock Rovers and most successfully Dundalk.

Keith Treacy was speaking on RTÉ's Game On
And, after an unsuccessful spell in the UK with Dunfermline, Treacy says the 52-year-old would be taking a risk returning to the League of Ireland so quickly.
"I could imagine it happening," Treacy, speaking on RTÉ's Game On, began.
"Alan Reynolds [reported assistant manager] and Stephen Kenny have great reputations within the League of Ireland. I can understand why Bohs would want to see how the land lies and see if Stephen is interested.
"There's another side of me that thinks that if I put myself into Stephen Kenny's shoes and my last job was the Republic of Ireland job.... Whatever about how that went, if he goes to Bohs and things don't quite click for him, where does he go from there? It's not a move that would suit Stephen Kenny just yet.
"I think he will have aspirations of going across the water, or maybe somewhere in Europe. So I think he might give it another 6-12 months to see if there's something else out there for him.
"If there's not I can well see Stephen Kenny returning to the League of Ireland but just now, with that Bohs team... I'm looking at the League of Ireland and I've no idea who is going to end up down the bottom of it.
"It's going to be a very tough league so I can understand why Bohs are interested but I just can't see Stephen Kenny taking it."

Pushed on who might take over at Bohs if Kenny doesn't sign up Treacy added: "I know Pat Fenlon quite well and I know what sort of heads he would be interested in taking in.
"I'm not sure, I've heard a lot of names. I know Richard Dunne was interviewed for the job before Declan Devine. There could be loads of ex-internationals thrown around, as there usually is.
"Curtis Fleming, Glenn Whelan - the League of Ireland is so unique. With English clubs you get a feel or a sense of who it's going to be.
"I've no idea, I've absolutely no idea."
