Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham had called his two-match ban for dissent "ridiculous" and says that he is being made an example of as a newer player in LaLiga.

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) suspended the 20-year-old for showing contempt towards referee Jesus Gil Manzano after receiving a red card in Real's 2-2 league draw with Valencia on Saturday.

The referee's report said Bellingham had displayed an "aggressive attitude" when he disputed Manzano's decision to blow the final whistle as the England international headed in Brahim Diaz's cross for what would have been the winning goal in added time.

Bellingham shouted "It's a f***ing goal, the ball is in the air, what the f*** is that?" at Manzano in the aftermath but manager Carlo Ancelotti insisted the player "didn't insult" the referee.

"I didn't think I said anything very offensive towards him," Bellingham said after his side's 1-1 draw with RB Leipzig in the Champions League last-16 second leg tie on Wednesday. Madrid advanced to the quarter-finals 2-1 on aggregate.

"I think I ran in a manner that was similar to the rest of my team mates. I feel like at times because I'm new and stuff, they want to try and make an example... I need to be responsible for my actions, and I gave him the excuse to send me off.

"I'm not happy with that. But I think if LaLiga and the club appeal, there can be a better agreement, because I think two games is a bit ridiculous. If I have to miss those games I take responsibility and I'll support the team from the stands."

Bellingham is set to miss Sunday's home game against Celta Vigo and the trip to Osasuna on 16 March 16.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti said he was calm about accusations he avoided €1 million in taxes on image rights revenues while he was at the club in 2014 and 2015.

A Spanish prosecutor is seeking a prison term of four years and nine months for Ancelotti.

In a statement on Wednesday, the prosecutor said that although the Italian coach was a resident in Spain for tax purposes at the time and filed his tax returns there, he had omitted the income earned through his image rights, which counted €4.2m in total.

The prosecutor also accused Ancelotti of pretending to transfer his image rights to entities lacking real activity outside Spain to avoid paying taxes.

"It's an old story and it's not affecting me," Ancelotti said after the game with Leipzig.

"I hope it can be solved soon and I don't have any problem and I'm calm about it. The only problem I have is that team needs to perform better."
