Treaty United have announced that they are switching to blue home kits for the upcoming season in a move harking to the traditional colours of Limerick clubs within the League of Ireland.

Since entering the SSE Airtricity Women's Premier Division and Men's First Division in 2020 and 2021 respectively, the club's senior teams have worn red and white striped jerseys with blue shorts, in homage to the original colours worn by Limerick Football Club upon its founding in 1937.

However, since 1943, successive iterations of Limerick FC have sported blue kits.

Treaty United CEO Ciara McCormack, who led a takeover of the club last year, said the decision to switch to that longstanding colour was prompted by fans.

"One of the things that we have said, and was most important to us coming in, was that we wanted to give local fans a voice," she said.

"The home strip being blue was a loud message we heard and with this in mind we are excited to have Treaty wear blue at home for the 2024 season."

The Treaty United men's senior side will kick off their First Division campaign on 16 February at home against Cobh Ramblers at Markets Field.
