Leicester extended their lead at the top of the Championship to 11 points with a thumping 5-0 victory at Stoke.

Patson Daka opened the scoring and Kasey McAteer doubled the visitors' advantage shortly before the half-hour mark.

A first penalty of the afternoon for Leicester allowed Daka to net his second before Jamie Vardy came off the bench to complete the rout, firing in his first goals in the league since November - one of them from the spot.

Southampton climbed into the top two after continuing their impressive form by sweeping aside struggling Rotherham 2-0.

The high-flying Saints made it 23 games unbeaten with a dominant display at the New York Stadium where first-half goals from Jan Bednarek and Adam Armstrong did the damage.

Ipswich missed their chance to move back into the top two as they fell to a 3-2 defeat at Preston.

A week after being embarrassed by non-league Maidstone in the FA Cup, the Tractor Boys capitulated in what proved to be a nightmare first half at Deepdale thanks to a Will Keane brace and George Edmundson's own goal.

Debutant Kieffer Moore came off the bench after half-time and bagged two goals to threaten a dramatic comeback late on but Preston hung on.

A late strike from Borja Sainz saw Norwich come from behind to beat 10-man Coventry 2-1 at Carrow Road.

Josh Sargent had cancelled out Callum O'Hare's well-taken goal before Sainz condemned the Sky Blues, who had Liam Kitching sent off, to their first defeat in 13 matches.

Andi Weimann (pictured) scored his first goal for West Brom with five minutes left as they beat Birmingham 1-0 while Jaden Philogene helped Hull beat Millwall by the same score and move into the top six.

Huddersfield - fresh from sacking Darren Moore on Monday - thrashed Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday 4-0.

Caretaker boss Jon Worthington looked on as his side scored four second-half goals; Josh Koroma got two of them while Matty Pearson and Sorba Thomas also chimed in.

QPR remain in the relegation zone, three points behind 21st-placed Huddersfield, after an Aynsley Pears own goal and Joseph Hodge's debut strike helped them win 2-1 at Blackburn, for whom Sam Gallagher scored.

A stunning Josh Bowler strike gave Cardiff a 1-0 victory over Watford at Vicarage Road and Morgan Whitaker scored the only goal as Plymouth got their first away win of the season at Swansea.
