England midfielder Jordan Henderson looks set to leave Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq and join Ajax, according to reports.

Former Liverpool captain Henderson, 33, signed for Al-Ettifaq in a lucrative but controversial move last summer.

Henderson was a high-profile supporter of LGBTQ+ rights during his time at Anfield.

After he was booed off the pitch at Wembley during a friendly against Australia in October, Henderson subsequently apologised for any hurt he caused by moving to a country where homosexuality is illegal.

Dutch media report Henderson is set to head to Amsterdam to finalise a move to Ajax, having reached an agreement with Al-Ettifaq to terminate his contract.

Henderson is expected to sign an 18-month deal with the Dutch giants.

Ajax are fifth in the Eredivisie table, having recovered from a poor start to the new domestic campaign which saw head coach Maurice Steijn depart after just 11 games in charge.

Sergio Reguilon is on the move

Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilon has joined Brentford on loan until the end of the season.

The Bees are short of full-back options with first-choice left-back Rico Henry ruled out for the rest of the campaign with a knee injury.

Thomas Frank has used Aaron Hickey and even attacker Saman Ghoddos out wide, while also deploying a 3-5-2 formation, but will be able to call upon recognised left-back Reguilon for the remainder of the season.

Brentford head coach Frank said: "This is a very good signing for us. We've been talking for a while about how we need a good left-back and we managed to get a very good left-back.

"Sergio is a perfect fit for us: a proven Premier League player in every aspect. He fits what we want. He's very offensive, has a very good cross and a very good left foot.

"He's got the experience we need to complement the rest of the squad and he's a good character.

David Moyes says West Ham are determined to do January transfer business and swell the numbers of his injury-hit squad.

The Hammers were dumped out of the FA Cup by Bristol City - 14th in the Sky Bet Championship - on Tuesday with several regulars missing.

Forward trio Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta and Michail Antonio were unavailable through injury, while midfielders Edson Alvarez and Pablo Fornals also missed out after picking up knocks in training.

Ghana forward Mohammed Kudus and Morocco defender Nayef Aguerd are away at the Africa Cup of Nations.

"We'll try and do some business," Moyes said of the January transfer window.

"There's undoubtedly a desire from the club to try and do something, from me and everybody there.

"The next part is can we get the right players to fall in and get ones who can come in and help just now."
