Christian Eriksen has returned to training for absentee-hit Manchester United.

The 31-year-old midfielder has been sidelined with a knee issue picked up five weeks ago during the first half of the Red Devils' 1-0 win against Luton.

Eriksen was pictured in training at Carrington on Monday, the day after United fought for a 0-0 draw at rivals Liverpool, as he edges towards a return.

The Denmark international’s availability will be a welcome boost for a side beset by injuries.

Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez and Tyrell Malacia – a trio that also arrived in the summer of 2022 – have also been lied low through injury.

Harry Maguire, Mason Mount, Victor Lindelof and Amad Diallo are also out, while Anthony Martial missed the trip to Anfield through illness.
