Cobh Ramblers will play some of their opening SSE Airtricity Men's First Division matches at Turner's Cross next season after work began on the installation of a new astro pitch at St Colman’s Park.
New LED floodlighting and pitch surround will also be added to the Cobh venue.
Ramblers received a €300,000 state grant last year for work on their facilities.
Cobh chairman Bill O’Leary said of the move to an astro pitch: "This timely and very positive development makes total operational, financial, and strategic sense for the club.
"It saves us money, facilitates our growth in terms of playing numbers, opens our facility to the community and will allow our teams to play football the way we like to play it."
He thanked the government, FAI and Cork County Council.
The club has agreed with the Munster FA, Cork City FC and the League of Ireland to play some of their opening home games for the 2024 season at Turner’s Cross.
The development timeline will likely run into the start of the new campaign with fixtures released on Friday.
Ramblers enjoyed their best season in recent memory this year after losing the second-tier play-off final to Waterford in extra-time following a third-placed finish.
However manager Shane Keegan resigned earlier in the month due to work commitments.
Meanwhile Waterford have signed a 50-year contract with Waterford City and County Council for the use of the Regional Sports Centre [RSC].
The Blues have played home games at the RSC since 1993.
The venue has been subject to large investment in recent years, most recently with the installation of brand-new floodlights at the beginning of this year at a cost €260,000.
