Warren Zaire-Emery levelled for PSG

PSG drew 1-1 at Group F winners Borussia Dortmund on to secure second place and a spot in the Champions League knockout stage in their final group match.

Both sides squandered a bagful of golden chances in a surprisingly goalless first half before Karim Adeyemi finally broke the deadlock for the already-qualified hosts in the 51st minute, slotting in off the post after PSG lost possession outside the box.

The visitors responded five minutes later, levelling through Warren Zaire-Emery after good work from Kylian Mbappe, who also had an effort ruled offside in the 76th.

Dortmund topped the group on 11 points with PSG in second place on eight, the same as third-placed Milan who will continue in the Europa League following their 2-1 win at Newcastle United, who picked up five points.

The hosts had the early chances but PSG gradually found spaces and threatened with Lee Kang-in in the 16th minute and Mbappe's effort which was cleared by Niklas Suele at the last moment a little later.

Bradley Barcola hit the post for the visitors with a superbly curled effort in the 20th and Randal Kolo Muani twice fired wide in one-on-ones with Dortmund keeper Gregor Kobel.

The Germans had an equally low conversion rate, with Marco Reus's volley from inside the box palmed wide by PSG keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Adeyemi had an even easier task in front of an empty goal late in the first half but sent his effort over the bar.

The Germany forward made amends six minutes after the restart, turning in a Niclas Fuellkrug assist and piling more pressure on the visitors who were desperate to avoid an early exit from the competition.

They drew level with Zaire-Emery's powerful shot and thought they had snatched a winner when Mbappe charged through to beat Kobel only to be ruled marginally offside following a VAR review.

Antoine Griezmann (pictured) and Samuel Lino scored in each half to give Atletico Madrid a 2-0 win over Lazio on Wednesday that secured them top spot in Group E.

A year after being knocked out of the competition in the group stage, Diego Simeone's side went into the last matchday unbeaten and sure of a place in the last 16, but they needed at least a point against the Italian team to finish top.

They finished with 14 points, four ahead of Lazio in second place. Feyenoord, who were beaten by Celtic 2-1 on the final match day, finished third on six points and will play in the Europa League, with the Bhoys bottom of the group on four points.

Atletico dominated proceedings and were never in danger, with Brazil's Lino a constant menace motoring up and down their left wing.

He put the ball on a plate for Griezmann to open the scoring in the sixth minute after winning possession on the edge of the box and crossing for the French forward, who slotted in a first-time strike.

It was Griezmann's fifth Champions League goal this season which put him level with Erling Haaland, Rasmus Hojlund and team mate Alvaro Morata as the competition's top scorers.

The French forward has found the back of the net 14 times in 21 matches played in all competitions this season and he is only two goals behind Luis Aragones' record as Atletico's all-time top scorer with 173.

Atletico had a Mario Hermoso goal ruled-out just before the break for offside in the build up and wasted a couple of great chances through Memphis Depay before Lino secured the points for the hosts with a fine volley on the rebound inside the box in the 51st minute.

Galeno heading home for Porto

Porto's Galeno scored twice and set up two others in a 5-3 home win over Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday to secure a spot in the next phase alongside Barcelona.

Porto finished second in Group H with 12 points, level with group winners Barca, who lost 3-2 away to Royal Antwerp, while Shakhtar ended in third and will drop into the Europa League knockout round playoffs.

Porto broke the deadlock after nine minutes when an unmarked Galeno tapped in from close range from a cross, before Shakhtar's Danylo Sikan levelled in the 29th.

Galeno scored his second two minutes before the break with a strike from the edge of the box to restore Porto's lead and he continued to haunt Shakhtar in the 62nd minute when he set up Mehdi Taremi inside the box to score Porto's third.

An own goal from Porto midfielder Stephen Eustaquio in the 72nd minute reduced the deficit but Pepe scored Porto's fourth, which was also assisted by Galeno, three minutes later and Francisco Conceicao added a fifth in the 82nd.

Eguinaldo scored a consolation goal for Shakhtar two minutes before full-time.

Royal Antwerp secured their first points against a much-changed Barcelona although it was not enough for them continue in this season's European club competition.

Teenager Arthur Vermeeren had Antwerp ahead after 90 seconds but Barcelona equalised 10 minutes before halftime through Ferran Torres.

Vincent Janssen put Antwerp in front again early in the second half, a lead they held going into stoppage time when 17-year-old Marc Guiu tried to deny home celebrations with an equaliser.

But straight from the kick-off Antwerp surged downfield and won the game through another teenage substitute, George Ilenikhena.

In Group G, Manchester City made it six wins from six games with a 3-2 away victory over Red Star Belgrade.

Debutant Micah Hamilton powered into the roof of the net to give Pep Guardiola's side the lead and they looked on their way to a comfortable victory when Oscar Bobb rolled home, but Belgrade responded through Hwang In-beom.

City re-established their two-goal lead thanks to Kalvin Phillips' penalty before the Serbian side pulled another one back in stoppage time through Aleksandar Katai, but it was not enough to stop City from picking up a maximum haul of 18 points.

Benjamin Sesko and Emil Forsberg struck twice in five second-half minutes to earn already qualified RB Leipzig a 2-1 victory over Young Boys. Ebrima Colley briefly levelled for the Swiss outfit.
