The FAI are expected to name the new permanent manager of the Republic of Ireland women's team in the next few weeks.
In October the association's CEO Jonathan Hill said they had a list of 12 candidates that they intended to whittle down to three, with Eileen Gleeson overseeing the UEFA Nations League campaign on an interim basis.
Gleeson was initially emphatic about her intention to return to her role as head of women's and girls' football once a permanent replacement for Vera Pauw was found, but the Dubliner has shied away from completely ruling herself out more recently.
Last week after she named her squad for the games against Hungary and Northern Ireland, Gleeson was asked if she was 100% out of the running. "I am 100% not answering," she replied. "I don't know how many times I can answer the same thing."
Yesterday, she remained coy, clearly frustrated with having to field repeated questions about the prospect of her taking on the gig but also reluctant to absolutely confirm she's not interested.
"I think it will be sorted soon enough," Gleeson replied when asked if she anticipated an update soon.
Hill has previously said the FAI "would like to be able to announce as soon as possible after the final Nations League game". That remains the case, with white smoke likely a week or two after the current window ends following Tuesday's trip to Belfast to play the North.
Meanwhile Gleeson is aiming to make it six wins from six as a busy year comes to an end. She's been keen to flush younger faces into the squad, with Peamount United trio Erin McLaughlin, Ellen Dolan and Freya Healy all named among her attackers.
That's left no room for Amber Barrett, who's been in good form with Standard Liege in the Belgian league. Even after Emily Whelan withdrew due to an injury, Gleeson overlooked Barrett, instead drafting in 16-year-old rookie Healy.
"That conversation is for me and Amber to talk about, what needs to happen to be in here," Gleeson said.
"So, like I said, there is a combination of factors that go into it. It is a competitive environment here now and we make decisions based on who the opposition are, and all of those we have just mentioned there.
"It's a football decision and we have a bigger talent pool that we are looking at right now and we have different objectives around transitioning young players through and Amber is also part of that talent pool, but we also base our decisions on what type of combinations we might like to play, we base it on game-time, we base it on level that players are playing at.
"And yeah, there are different objectives for different age groups coming through. Freya is 16 and she is naturally playing here, because you can’t go abroad until you are 18 anyway, so if we are going to blood in the young talent and under 18s, they will come most likely, or more probable, the Irish league.
"The competition is much higher now and we look at a number of factors around what squad combination we want, what game-time, what level they are playing at, what is the performance in those games, so it is not as simplistic as you have always been in the squad so you always will be because we have made a number of changes.
"It is not to say that a player who is not in this squad won’t be in the next one. This is the squad we preferred for this camp."
