Peamount United's Ellen Dolan has been handed a first Republic of Ireland senior call-up in Eileen Gleeson's final squad as interim manager.

Dolan is rewarded for a fine campaign with the Peas, who marched to the SSE Airtricity Women's Premier Division title in impressive fashion.

It caps a good couple of days for attacker Dolan, who was named the SSE Airtricity Women's Premier Division Player of the Month Award for October/November on Wednesday.

Her clubmate Erin McLaughlin is included again, having started against Albania last month, while Jessie Stapleton comes back into the squad after making her first start for West Ham in Wednesday night's Continental League Cup defeat to Brighton.

Ruesha Littlejohn returns after missing the last two windows with injury, but Niamh Fahey - just back from a calf injury - Amber Barrett and Leanne Kiernan are notable absentees.

Gleeson took charge of the team on a caretaker basis for the Nations League campaign after Vera Pauw's departure. The FAI are expected to name a permanent successor to Pauw before Christmas.

The Girls in Green have already wrapped up the group - and with it promotion to League A - having won their first four games.

They host the Hungarians at Tallaght Stadium on Friday week before travelling to Belfast for an international derby the following Tuesday.

"I think this squad we've picked is a really competitive squad," said Gleson.

"It shows the depth that we have in terms of across the talent pool, and you know one of the legacy pieces from the World Cup, moving forward towards Euro 2025 and the World Cup in 2027 is that we transition young players through and that’s what we’re doing here now. We think we have a nice mix of experience and youth and talent coming through."

That game will take place at Windsor Park, after the North played their first two Nations League clashes at the 3,300-capacity Seaview, home to Crusaders FC.

It's the first time Northern Ireland's women's team will play at Windsor Park since April 2022, when they lost 5-0 to England in a World Cup qualifier.

Ireland's last outing was a 1-0 win against Albania in October, a contest played in atrocious conditions after a period of torrential rain led to a postponement at half-time as groundsmen swept water off the pitch.

The teams returned to the field 90 minutes later, with Denise O'Sullivan firing home a late winner.

"It's great that we’re in Windsor Park and it’s a nice fixture to finish off the Nations League campaign with," added Gleeson.

"It’s very exciting. It's a big occasion and we’re proud to be part of that occasion. It’s a real step forward and progressive."
