Shelbourne manager Damien Duff has been handed a one-match touchline ban for comments made about referee Paul McLaughlin in his side's recent defeat to Shamrock Rovers.

Following the 1-0 defeat at Tallaght Stadium, the former Republic of Ireland international was highly critical of McLaughlin - promoted from fourth official to referee when Damien MacGraith pulled up in the first half – for failing to award a penalty when Will Jarvis struck Richie Towell’s arm, even though it appeared to be in a natural position.

The FAI have handed Duff a one-match sideline suspension for 'disparaging comments and/or actions' and will be in the stands for Friday night's league encounter with Dundalk.
