Galway United are dreaming of a league and cup double

Galway United will host Bohemians in the semi-finals of the Sports Direct FAI Cup, while Cork City will welcome St Patrick's Athletic to Turner's Cross in the other tie.

First Division Galway could wrap up the title this Friday night and will then look forward to facing Bohs in Eamonn Deacy Park on Saturday, 7 October, having already knocked out two Premier Division sides so far in the competition.

Cork have struggled in the league this year but have the chance for a final berth when they take on 2021 winners Pat’s on Sunday, 8 October

It’s possible the final could be a repeat of that decider when the Saints emerged on penalties, while there is also the opportunity for Galway boss John Caulfield to meet his former club Cork at the Aviva Stadium.

Both games will be live on RTÉ One and the RTÉ Player, with a 2.40pm kick-off.

The draw for the Women’s FAI Cup semi-finals threw up a blockbuster pairing with Shamrock Rovers at home to Shelbourne on Saturday, 14 October.

The duo are currently coming up short in the title race as Shels look to defend the trophy they won last year.

The Hoops are seeking a first win for the female side having won the men’s competition 25 times.

Also on 14 October, Sligo Rovers and Athlone Town, who recorded big upset victories in the quarter-finals, will face off for a place in the decider.

Sligo will have home advantage against Ciaran Kilduff’s outfit.

Town lost to Shels in last year's final with a chance of a rematch very much alive.

Both Women's semi-finals will be live on LOITV.
