The Republic of Ireland fell to a 2-0 defeat to France at Parc des Princes in Paris on Thursday night.
It was a decent performance by Stephen Kenny's men, who were undone by a terrific Aurelien Tchouameni effort and an emphatic finish from Marcus Thuram.
Here's how we rated the Boys in Green.
GAVIN BAZUNU - 5
Will be frustrated to have conceded another long-ranger, albeit Tchouameni's effort was top quality. Had a couple of nervy moments, though he did claw away a good Tchouameni hit in the second half.
ALAN BROWNE - 7
Deputised well at right wing-back in the absence of Seamus Coleman and Matt Doherty. He was handed the unenviable task of trying to keep a lid on Kylian Mbappe, Theo Hernandez and occasionally the roaming Antoine Griezmann but can be satisfied with his night's work. Made one brilliant sliding tackle to dispossess Mbappe, and was reliable in possession.
SHANE DUFFY - 6.5
Got the nod to deal with the aerial threat posed by Giroud, who limped off midway through the first half. Marshalled the defence pretty well thereafter, making a couple of good calls on the defensive line which caught Mbappe offside twice. Won umpteen headers in a solid showing.

JOHN EGAN - 6.5
There were question marks around his fitness but Egan produced a typically committed display. Made a really good block to deny Giroud inside the first five minutes and was unlucky for the Thuram goal - making a fine block to deny Mbappe before the ball broke kindly for Thuram to smash home.
NATHAN COLLINS - 6
Went on an outrageous charge forward in the first half after making an interception, only for Ogbene to delay his return pass with the Leixlip man screaming for it. Perhaps could have done better with the defensive header that led to Tchouameni's brilliant opener. Had some good defensive moments too, making one goal-saving block after a Griezmann strike and another to stop a Kingsley Coman thunderbolt.
ENDA STEVENS - 4
A difficult night at the office for the Stoke City man. Found the going very tough against the lightning quick Ousmane Dembele. Struggled the longer the half wore on as the hosts targeted his side with more frequency. Replaced by James McClean at the break, with Stephen Kenny revealing afterwards he had a calf issue.
JAYSON MOLUMBY - 6
Got though a monumental amount of graft in the first half, covering important space on the right. Understandably tired as France made the pitch really big in possession, and made way for Dara O'Shea with just over 20 minutes to go.
JOSH CULLEN - 5
Sat and worked as diligently as always, but his passing was conservative and he found it hard to get to grips with Griezmann's intelligence and the dominant Tchouameni.

JASON KNIGHT - 6
Worked incredibly hard to try and help Stevens cope with Dembele while chasing down the aristocratic French trio of Griezmann, Tchouameni and Rabiot. Most of his work was done without the ball but he showed some neat, clever touches at times, and produced a nice bit of play to free Idah in the build-up to Ogbene's headed opportunity.
CHIEDOZIE OGBENE - 7
Drew a foul from Rabiot with less than 15 seconds gone after Ireland charged forward from the tip-off which set the tone for another mighty display from the Corkman. Ogbene offered support to Idah and extra cover on France's left-hand side. He was Ireland's main threat all night and could - maybe should - have given his team a lifeline with a header that Maignan pawed away.
ADAM IDAH - 6
Gifted Mbappe an early opportunity with a misjudged defensive header but once he settled into his role as lone striker, Idah did pretty well. He toiled manfully, offering physicality and good movement at times. The Norwich attacker faded on the turnaround and was replaced by Will Keane.
SUBSTITUTES
James McClean (for Enda Stevens HT) - 6
He was caught flat-footed by the eel-like Dembele who ghosted past the Derryman and thumped a strike off the post. However McClean generally offered more solidity and presence on the left, curling in a good cross that Ogbene probably should have headed home.
Dara O'Shea (for Jayson Molumby 67) - 5
Came on as part of a reshuffle and almost immediately found himself trying to repel waves of home attacks as France went through the gears.
Will Keane (for Adam Idah 67) - Not on long enough to rate
Was barely on the pitch ten minutes when he had to depart due to what looked like a groin injury. Unfortunate.
Aaron Connolly (for Will Keane 77) - 5
Introduced with the game realistically dead and buried; struggled to make an impact.
Festy Ebosele (for Chiedozie Ogbene 84) - 5
A senior debut for the Wexford man. Drew a foul from Griezmann after going on a stirring gallop - his pace alone offers something different. Despite the result, it's a landmark night in the career of the 21-year-old.
