Riyad Mahrez has completed his move from Manchester City to Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli.

City agreed a fee understood to be worth up to €35m with Al-Ahli for the Algeria international last week.

Mahrez, 32, spent five years at the Etihad Stadium and helped the club win ten trophies, including four Premier League titles and the Champions League.

Mahrez is the latest in a growing list of high-profile players to have moved to the Saudi Pro League this summer, following others including Karim Benzema, Jordan Henderson, Roberto Firmino and N’Golo Kante.

He joined City in 2018 in a €70m deal from Leicester, where he won the Premier League in 2016.

Mahrez scored 78 goals during his five seasons with City

Mahrez made 236 appearances for City in all competitions and scored 78 goals. He was a key member of Pep Guardiola's squad but was not always first choice last season, and was an unused substitute in both Champions League and FA Cup finals.

Mahrez is the second major departure from City since they won the treble last season after Ilkay Gundogan left for Barcelona.

He was given permission to miss City’s pre-season tour to Japan and South Korea to sort his future after the club received an offer from Al-Ahli that matched their valuation.

Mahrez said: "To play for Manchester City has been an honour and privilege. I came to City to win trophies and enjoy my football and I achieved all that and so much more.

"I have had five unforgettable years with this football club, working with unbelievable players, fantastic supporters, and the best manager in the world.

"Manchester City will forever be a huge and happy part of my life."

Luton have made Ryan Giles their sixth signing of the summer.

The 23-year-old wing-back has moved to Kenilworth Road for an undisclosed fee from his boyhood club Wolves, where he was given his senior debut by Hatters boss Rob Edwards.

"I'm grateful to Rob for giving me my first taste of men’s football and now with the chance to work with him again, especially in the Premier League, it is a fantastic opportunity," Giles told the official Luton website.

"I’ve reached the point that at my age that I’ve had a lot of loans and I feel those experiences have made me the player and the person I am today. Now this is a different direction, a new beginning, a new chapter."

Giles gained first-team experience at Shrewsbury, Coventry, Rotherham, Cardiff, Blackburn and Middlesbrough when away from Molineux.

Edwards said: "He’s had a few loans and he’s got lots of experience now, cumulating in last season where he was one of the most outstanding wide players in the Championship.

"He’s got electric pace and I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone who can cross a ball on the run with the quality he can while at full speed."

Giles joins Republic of Ireland international Chiedozie Ogbene, Issa Kabore, Mads Andersen, Marvelous Nakamba and Tahith Chong in joining Luton ahead of the club’s first season in the Premier League.
