Paris St Germain have signed Uruguay international Manuel Ugarte from Sporting Lisbon for €60 million, with the defensive midfielder signing a five-year contract.

A prodigy who made his first-team debut for hometown club CA Fenix at the age of 15, Ugarte moved to Portugal to play for Famalicao before being snapped up by Sporting.

The 22-year-old was called up for the World Cup in Qatar last year and has eight caps for Uruguay.

"I'm really happy to take this big step in my career at such a great club," Ugarte said in a statement. "I'm going to give my all for Paris Saint-Germain."

Ugarte is PSG's third new recruit in the close season after they signed centre back Milan Skriniar and forward Marco Asensio on free transfers from Inter Milan and Real Madrid respectively.

The club also sacked manager Christophe Galtier on Wednesday and replaced him with former Barcelona and Spain coach Luis Enrique.

William Saliba signed a new Arsenal deal

William Saliba has become the latest big-name Arsenal star to commit his future to the club after signing a new long-term contract.

The France defender played a pivotal role as the Gunners ultimately came up short in their Premier League title tilt last season and has now agreed fresh terms at the Emirates Stadium.

Saliba, 22, was an ever-present in the league until he suffered a back injury during the Europa League defeat to Sporting in mid-March - an issue that would ultimately rule him out for the remainder of the campaign.

Without him, Mikel Arteta's side saw their lead at the top of the table cut by Manchester City, who eventually powered past Arsenal to retain their title.

Now, though, an agreement has finally been reached that ties Saliba to the club on a four-year deal.

"I was born in north Paris, but became a man in north London," Saliba said in a video message for Arsenal fans on the club's Twitter account.

"I know it must have been strange for you. I show up, a kid you have never heard of and then keep going away to different clubs (on loan) before you get to see me play.

"But I know now this was the best plan for me, and last summer when I came back to the club and became a pivotal part of the team words cannot describe how I feel here. how you (fans) make me feel."

Celtic have announced the signing of Australia international Marco Tilio from Melbourne City.

The 21-year-old winger has agreed a five-year deal at Celtic Park and becomes the second signing of Brendan Rodgers' second spell at the club.

Tilio, who follows a host of Australians to pull on the green and white hoops, told Celtic TV: "I'm ecstatic that I'm coming over to Europe, coming to such a big club and team, and I'm super-excited.

"I hope to bring all my qualities, take on players in and around the box, help the team contribute to goals with assists and hopefully put a few in the back of the net as well.

"It's an amazing opportunity for myself and having seen Aussies go over there and do well at such a prestigious club, it's a massive opportunity for myself that I couldn't deny.
