Vera Pauw has confirmed her final squad for the Republic of Ireland's first ever appearance at a FIFA Women's World Cup.
We take a look at each of the 23 players heading on the country's historic mission to Australia and New Zealand.
GOALKEEPERS
Courtney Brosnan
Age: 28
Club: Everton
Place of birth: New Jersey, USA
Ireland debut: Montenegro, March 2020
A key figure for Ireland in the qualification campaign, Brosnan has improved massively in the last two years. A great shot-stopper and good under high ball, she will be crucially important Down Under.
Grace Moloney
Age: 30
Club: Reading
Place of birth: Slough, England
Ireland debut: Germany, December 2020
Moloney has been around for quite a while, acting as back-up to Emma Byrne in the 2015 World Cup qualification campaign. She has good hands and excellent distribution.
Megan Walsh
Age: 28
Club: Free agent
Place of birth: Bromsgrove, England
Ireland debut: Russia, February 2022
Recently released by Brighton and Hove Albion, talented stopper Walsh switched allegiance in the winter of 2021 having played for England at U-17, U-19 and U-23 level. She qualifies to represent Ireland through her Wexford-born grandfather William Walsh.
DEFENDERS
Áine O'Gorman
Age: 34
Club: Shamrock Rovers
Place of birth: Wicklow
Ireland debut: Denmark, 2006
One of Ireland's great servants is still going strong. O'Gorman actually retired from international duty in 2018 but she came back in to the fold under Pauw and started in that famous play-off win against Scotland.
Louise Quinn
Age: 33
Club: Birmingham City
Place of birth: Wicklow
Ireland debut: Poland, 2008
Another Wicklow veteran who has been hugely important to the team's success. Pauw has had to shuffle her defence quite a bit over the last year - Quinn has been the one constant, a brilliant organiser who rarely puts a foot wrong.
Niamh Fahey
Age: 35
Club: Liverpool
Place of birth: Galway
Ireland debut: Portugal, 2007
Fahey has been wearing the green jersey for 16 years and counting now. Endured a frustrating second half to the season as injury sidelined her for a few months but she has returned in time to make the plane to Australia.
Diane Caldwell
Age: 34
Club: Reading
Place of birth: Dublin
Ireland debut: Denmark, 2006
It's been a whirlwind few weeks for the Balbriggan native who got married in Greece just before arriving into Ireland camp. Hasn't always been first choice under Pauw, but is as solid as they come when called upon.
Megan Connolly
Age: 26
Club: Free agent
Place of birth: Cork
Ireland debut: USA, 2016
The versatile Corkonian suffered a dreadful injury in the crucial 1-0 win over Finland last September, fracturing two ribs and a laceration of the kidney in the first few minutes. Incredibly, she finished the game - a testament to her courage and commitment. Can be used in defence and in midfield.
Chloe Mustaki
Age: 27
Club: Bristol City
Place of birth: Ohio
Ireland debut: Russia, 2022
Born in the USA to an Irish mother and French father, the Mustakis moved to Paris and then Blessington where Chloe honed her footballing talent. Six years ago she was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Her full recovery, and subsequent journey to this World Cup, is a remarkable story.
Izzy Atkinson
Age: 21
Club: West Ham
Place of birth: Dublin
Ireland debut: Portugal, 2018
The Rush left-footer began her career at Shelbourne, moving to Celtic in 2021 where she scored the winner in the Scottish Cup final against Glasgow City. Now at West Ham, she is the surprise name in the final squad, rewarded for an impressive showing against Zambia and general overall improvement.
Heather Payne
Age: 23
Club: Free agent
Place of birth: Roscommon
Ireland debut: Scotland, 2017
Payne has operated as a lone striker for much of her Ireland career but she's excelled since reverting to right wing-back. Her time at Florida State University is now at an end so she'll be on the lookout for a new club after the World Cup. There'll be no shortage of suitors.
Claire O'Riordan
Age: 28
Club: Celtic
Place of birth: Limerick
Ireland debut: Hungary, 2016
O'Riordan was brilliant in Celtic's Scottish Cup final win against Rangers, she excelled in the 3-2 friendly win over Zambia last week, and now she's going to the World Cup. Not bad going for the Limerick native who will push hard for a starting spot against Australia.
MIDFIELDERS
Katie McCabe
Age: 27
Club: Arsenal
Place of birth: Dublin
Ireland debut: Hungary, 2015
The team's superstar, McCabe mixes technical excellence with unrelenting aggression. The nation gasped when she was left on crutches after Arenseal's Champions League semi-final against Wolfsburg in March. A week later, McCabe started for Ireland against the USA. A real warrior.
Denise O'Sullivan
Age: 29
Club: North Carolina Courage
Place of birth: Cork
Ireland debut: Wales, 2011
If McCabe is the heart of the side, O'Sullivan is the brains. One of the most respected players in the NWSL, O'Sullivan's creativity and eye for a pass have regularly swung games Ireland's way - not least in Scotland where she split the hosts open with a through ball that allowed Amber Barrett to make history.
Lily Agg
Age: 29
Club: London City Lionesses
Place of birth: Brighton, England
Ireland debut: Philippines, 2022
Headed home a massively improtant winner against Finland on the road to Australia and New Zealand. An industrious player and a ball winner, Agg dedicated the moment to her late grandmother from Cobh.
Ruesha Littlejohn
Age: 32
Club: Free agent
Place of birth: Glasgow, Scotland
Ireland debut: Hungary, 2012
Littlejohn has been a long time around the Ireland set-up, a popular character who shores up the middle of the park with hard running and sensible distribution.
Ciara Grant
Age: 30
Club: Hearts
Place of birth: Donegal
Ireland debut: USA, 2012
The qualified physician became the first Republic of Ireland international to sign for Rangers since Alex Stevenson in 1932 when she headed to Ibrox in 2022. Now at Hearts, she's seized her opportunity in this window, quietly getting hold of the midfield in the win against Zambia with her intelligence and physcialty.
Sinead Farrelly
Age: 33
Club: Gotham FC
Place of birth: Pennsylvania, USA
Ireland debut: USA, 2023
A latecomer to the squad having made her debut in April against the USA, Farrelly had been out of the game for eight years before signing with Gotham in March. It's easy to see why Pauw has such faith in her however - Farrelly is a wonderfully gifted footballer, and a nailed-on starter against Australia.
Lucy Quinn
Age: 29
Club: Birmingham City
Place of birth: Southampton, England
Ireland debut: Australia, 2021
Quinn had a dream debut against the Aussies when she scored and played really well in a 3-2 friendly win. It hasn't all been plain sailing since then; Quinn missed out on April's squad for the double-header against the USA. She got a late call-up after Megan Campbell withdrew and went on to deliver a player-of-the-match performance in the second game.
FORWARDS
Abbie Larkin
Age: 18
Club: Shamrock Rovers
Place of birth: Dublin
Ireland debut: Russia, 2022
The massively talented teenager is still learning her trade, but Larkin possesses so much natural ability and is improving with every appearance. She'll get minutes Down Under, either from the start or off the bench.
Kyra Carusa
Age: 27
Club: London City Lionesses
Place of birth: San Diego, USA
Ireland debut: Montengro, 2020
Having found herself on the fringes for much of Pauw's time in charge, Carusa may be about to take centre stage. She started the two USA games up top with Payne stationed on the right, a tweak that really worked. Her hold-up play and ability to bring others into the game will be big assets.
Amber Barrett
Age: 27
Club: Standard Liege
Place of birth: Donegal
Ireland debut: Northern Ireland, 2017
A player for the big occasion, her goal in Glasgow is the reason Ireland are getting ready for a first ever World Cup. Barrett sealed her ticket to Oz with a brace against Zambia, and though she doesn't score often, she does have a knack of netting when it really matters.
Marissa Sheva
Age: 26
Club: Washington Spirit
Place of birth: Philadelphia, USA
Ireland debut: China, 2023
A highly accomplished middle-distance runner who competed for Penn State, Sheva is another late arrival having made her debut against China in February. Quick, energetic and tidy on the ball, she'll compete with Larkin for a berth on the flank.
TRAINING PLAYERS
Jamie Finn
Age: 25
Club: Birmingham City
Place of birth: Dublin
Ireland debut: Greece, 2019
Very unlucky not to be in the 23. Pauw put it down to a change in tactics that's ultimately left Finn in limbo, but she is versatile enough, and good enough, to do a job in a few positions. If there are any unfortunate injuries prior to the 19 July cut-off, she'll be elevated into the squad.
Harriet Scott
Age: 30
Club: Birmingham City
Place of birth: Reading
Ireland debut: Czech Republic, 2017
The full-back got minutes against Zambia but couldn't squeeze in to the 23. If called upon, Scott is a dependable, solid defensive option.
Sophie Whitehouse
Age: 26
Club: Lewes FC
Place of birth: Enfield, England
Ireland debut: Yet to make her debut
Whitehouse's chances of seeing any action are remote, but she will be important in training and could make the matchday squads if any of the three keepers ahead of her pick up an injury before that first game against the Aussies.
