Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan is poised to join Barcelona.
The Germany international, who is out of contract this summer, now seems unlikely to renew terms with the treble winners.
City had offered the 32-year-old a new one-year contract with the option of a further 12 months but Barca are understood to have presented a more tempting three-year, and more financially-rewarding, package.
City are comfortable with the situation and the player would leave with their blessing.
The development comes on the same day City are understood to have agreed a £30m (€34.8m) deal with Chelsea to sign Croatia midfielder Mateo Kovacic.
The champions are set to pay an initial £25m (€29m) for the 29-year-old with a further £5m (€5.8m) to follow in potential add-ons.
Kovacic, who joined Chelsea from Real Madrid in 2018, is entering the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge.
City now expect to complete formalities with the player and an official announcement will follow in due course.
Kovacic's versatility and experience would go some way to compensating for the loss of Gundogan.
The influential former Borussia Dortmund midfielder has won five Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups and the Champions League in his seven years at City.
This year Gundogan lifted three trophies as City became only the second English side to win the treble.
The club had been keen to retain his services but, given his age, did not want to match Barcelona's offer and have taken a pragmatic decision.
Kovacic would arrive at City as a four-time Champions League winner having been a member of Chelsea's victorious side in 2021 and triumphed on three occasions with Madrid. He also had a spell with Inter Milan earlier in his career.

Earlier, Chelsea confirmed that N'Golo Kante will join Saudi club Al-Ittihad when his contract expires at the end of June.
The 32-year-old midfielder joined from Leicester in 2016 and has won the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup during his time at Stamford Bridge.
He had been an integral part of the Foxes' surprise title success under Claudio Ranieri after arriving in England from Caen in 2015, just two years after having played in the French fourth tier.
Chelsea co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley told the club website: "N'Golo's impact and influence during his time at Chelsea cannot be overstated. His tireless performances in midfield contributed to several trophy wins and has guaranteed him a place in the club's history.
"We wish him well as he embarks on the next chapter in his career."
His final season at the club was blighted by injury. He required hamstring surgery in October and was unavailable to former manager Graham Potter until March, in all making only seven Premier League appearances across the campaign.
He becomes the first major departure since Mauricio Pochettino was confirmed as the club's new manager, with a reduction in size of a bloated first-team squad amongst the Argentinean's priorities.
Kante, who won the World Cup with France in Russia in 2018, becomes the latest in a succession of high-profile names to move to the Saudi Professional League.
His international team-mate Karim Benzema has already agreed to join Al-Ittihad after 14 seasons at Real Madrid, following Cristiano Ronaldo who moved to Al Nassr from Manchester United in December.
Wolves captain Ruben Neves has reportedly agreed a €54.7m move to Al Hilal with an announcement expected from the club this week.
At 26 he will be the youngest big name to leave a European club for Saudi Arabia.
Chelsea outcasts Kalidou Koulibaly, Edouard Mendy, Romelu Lukaku and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have also been linked with moves to the Gulf state.
Arsenal are progressing well in talks to sign Chelsea forward Kai Havertz as they prepare to launch a third bid for West Ham captain Declan Rice.

The Gunners are aiming to add to the squad that manager Mikel Arteta led to second place in the Premier League last season.
Rice emerged as a top target earlier this year, but a move for Havertz could also now be close to fruition.
The 24-year-old has hit 19 Premier League goals in 91 appearances for the Blues, but could be set to move across London and link up with the Gunners.
It is believed a new bid has yet to be lodged for Havertz, but the difference in valuation between the clubs is close.
West Ham on Tuesday knocked back a second offer for Rice, which would have made the England midfielder Arsenal's all-time record signing.
The structure of add-ons to Arsenal's bid is believed to be the issue for West Ham, who are keen to stick to their guns and receive £100 million (€116.5m) for their skipper.
Arsenal have also been linked with moves for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia and Jurrien Timber of Ajax.

Manchester United have made an improved bid of up to £50million (€58.2) for Mason Mount as talks continue with Chelsea.
Transfer movement has been slow at Old Trafford this summer, thanks in no small part to the Glazer family dragging their heels over a potential sale.
Despite that uncertainty, United have made a move for Chelsea attacking midfielder Mount, whose Stamford Bridge contract is due to expire next summer.
An initial bid was rebuffed last week by the west London club, who are understood to have turned their nose up at the Red Devils' latest offer of £45million plus £5million in add-ons.
Chelsea reportedly want an extra £15m but there is a limit as to how far United are willing to go, given the player is soon out of contract and they need to strengthen in other areas this summer.
Mount would certainly help bolster a midfield that the club recognises would benefit from more options and legs, as Erik ten Hag continues to shape the side in his image.
The attacking midfielder came through the ranks at Chelsea, scoring 27 goals and providing 22 assists in 129 Premier League appearances.
The 24-year-old - a Champions League winner with the Blues - has won 36 England caps and started the Euro 2020 final defeat to Italy.
Germany midfielder Toni Kroos is to prolong his stay at Real Madrid after agreeing a 12-month contract extension.
The 33-year-old, who joined the club from Bayern Munich in July 2014, will completed a decade at the Bernabeu next summer as a result of his new deal.
Kroos, a World Cup winner in 2014, has enjoyed a hugely successful spell in the Spanish capital which has brought 20 major trophies.
A Real statement read: "Real Madrid and Toni Kroos have agreed to extend the player's contract, which will see him contracted to the club until 30 June 2024.
"Toni Kroos joined Real Madrid in 2014 and is the German player to have worn the club's jersey the most times, having made 417 appearances.
"Over his nine seasons as a Real Madrid player, he has won 20 trophies: four Champions Leagues, five Club World Cups, four European Super Cups, three LaLiga titles, one Copa del Rey and three Spanish Super Cups."
