Bohemians have added to their ranks ahead of the closure of the League of Ireland transfer window with Polish centre-back Krystian Nowak moving to Dalymount Park.

The experienced 28-year-old joins from Romanian side Universitatea Cluj having previously played for clubs in Poland, Scotland and Croatia.

He lined out for over 20 games with Hearts in the Scottish Premiership in 2016/2017.

Nowak is the 12th new arrival since the end of last season following the signings of Keith Buckley, Paddy Kirk, Adam McDonnell, James Akintunde, Dean Williams, Grant Horton, Luke Dennison, Dylan Connolly, Jay Benn, Kacper Radkowski and Drew Baker.

Bohs boss Declan Devine said: "Krystian is exactly the type of experienced defender I wanted to bring to the club in this window.

"He has had a great career so far, has played in some top leagues and he is a really good age profile for us.

"We knew we had to strengthen in defence and we have done that now over the past couple of weeks. Krystian now gives us that extra bit of experience that we needed at the back.

"We have had a lot of new arrivals in this window, the group is gelling well and I feel that we now have serious competition for places right across the squad.

"We are delighted to get Krystian in and we are really looking forward to seeing what he will bring to the group."

Meanwhile Dundalk have completed the loan signing of Wasiri Williams from Swansea City.

The 22-year-old defender, who will wear the number 22 shirt, becomes our seventh new arrival of the 2023 campaign and will go into the squad for Friday night's League of Ireland clash with the Gypsies.

"I was with my family on Saturday when my agent called me about the opportunity and it was a quick transition," Williams said.

"I wanted to come here and play, Swansea wanted me to come here and play so it was a thumbs up all around.

"I’m an aggressive centre-back who loves to tackle but I also like to play which is something I can hopefully bring to the team."

Born in Croydon, he joined Swansea City in July 2022 after spending four years in the English non-league where he played with Ashford United, Tunbridge Wells, Sheppey United, Hatcham FC, Braintree Town and Corinthian Casuals.

Williams has been a regular for Swansea City’s Under-21 team this season, skippering the side on multiple occasions, and he also chipped in with three goals, including a brace against Cardiff City.

"I’m delighted to get Wasiri on board," said Dundalk head coach Stephen O’Donnell. "He’s a big, powerful defender who’s primarily a centre-back but he can also play at full back.

"He trained with the squad for the first time this morning and he is a good communicator, which is important and it’s something we want to see.

"He’s strong, he’s physical, he’s quick and he’s good on the ball so he has a lot of good attributes and I’m really looking forward to seeing him in action."
