Union Berlin have signed Croatia defender Josip Juranovic from Scottish champions Celtic.
Sky Sports reported that Union, third in the Bundesliga standings, paid a fee of up to £10m (€11.4m) for the versatile 27-year-old.
Juranovic has 27 caps and played in six of their games at the World Cup in Qatar last month. He was on the bench when they finished third by beating Morocco 2-1 in a playoff.
Juranovic won the Scottish Premiership title and the League Cup in his first season with Celtic.
"The transfer to Union fulfils my dream of being able to play in one of the best football leagues in the world. The Bundesliga is intense and robust, which suits my game," Juranovic said.
He will give Union more options in defence after Norway fullback Julian Ryerson's move to Borussia Dortmund this month.
Struggling Wolverhampton Wanderers have signed centre-back Craig Dawson on a two-and-a-half-year deal from West Ham United.
Financial details were not disclosed but British media said the 32-year-old cost £3.3m (€3.76m).
Wolves, who lost 3-0 at home to Manchester City on Sunday, are 17th and level on 17 points with third-bottom Bournemouth.
Dawson made 87 appearances for West Ham after arriving on loan from fellow London club Watford in October 2020, with the move made permanent in the 2021 close season.
Aston Villa manager Unai Emery is open to adding new players to his squad in the January transfer window.
Ollie Watkins scored the only goal of the game in a win at Southampton on Saturday which lifted Villa up to 11th in the Premier League, just one point behind Chelsea and Liverpool.
In the current window, they have sold Danny Ings to West Ham for a reported #15million and signed Alex Moreno from Real Betis. Jhon Duran has also been brought in but Emery called for patience over the 19-year-old forward.
That leaves Watkins as the only senior striker in the squad and Villa boss Emery admitted he would be open to adding to his current contingent.
"At the moment we are speaking about some players that are getting ready to leave and then if we have some space to add some players to improve the squad, taking the balance in the squad, we are going to do it," the Villa boss said.
"But only if they are going to add some different quality in the squad, but if not... At the moment we have very good players and we are happy with the players that we have, but of course we want to add more players, maybe this transfer or maybe in the summer."
