Republic of Ireland internationals Adam Idah and Andrew Omobamidele are back from injury and available to play for their club Norwich City, according to manager Dean Smith.

Idah is still only just 21 years old, while his Norwich City team-mate Omobamidele will not turn 21 until June next year.

It will be welcome news to Ireland boss Stephen Kenny as both players are highly thought of and will surely be in contention for the national team, provided they are both fit for next spring's European Championship qualifier with France.

Leixlip-born Omobamidele has struggled with an ankle injury over the past couple of months after an encouraging start to the season where he was hailed as one of the English Championship's best defenders.

Idah's injuries have kept him out for most of the season and the Corkman has only made one appearance in the league this term.

While the football world will be fixated on events in Qatar, the English Championship restarts on Saturday, with Norwich City heading to south Wales to take on Swansea City.

Speaking ahead of the game, Norwich manager Smith announced that the Irish duo are back in contention.

"The two of them played 30 minutes in a game last Saturday, both trained this week and both available for selection," Smith confirmed. They're a big inclusion to this squad."

The break for the World Cup perhaps came at a good time for the young Irish prospects as it allowed time for rest and rehabilitation.

A training camp in Tampa was part of that World Cup break for the first team, which Smith hinted offered a chance to see the squad in a different environment.

"The four weeks we've had, we had a nice break, the lads had a week off. The week in Tampa was really good, it was nice to see the players in a different environment, some had their families with them," Smith added.

Idah has 13 caps to his name and is yet to register a goal, his last appearance for the national team came in a 3-0 win away to Luxembourg, where he was replaced by Jason Knight.

Omobamidele made his debut for Ireland as a first-half substitute for the injured Dara O'Shea away to Portugal and came mightily close to registering his first goal for Ireland against Serbia in a 1-1 draw at the Aviva Stadium.

Since then, O'Shea and Nathan Collins have stepped up to the plate, with Collins impressing and getting a move to Premier League side Wolves.
