Both Jayson Molumby and Jason Knight rued the concession of Scotland's equaliser just shortly after the break in a feisty Nations League encounter at Hampden Park, where Scotland eventually ran out 2-1 winners.
A penalty kick would decide the Glasgow contest following an Alan Browne handball inside the penalty area, and Ryan Christie wrapped up the three points with a coolly taken spot-kick. Earlier, John Egan had given the visitors the lead in the 18th minute, a deserved advantage at the time, with Ireland's energetic midfielder dictating affairs.
Central to that effort was Jason Knight and the Derby County player was frustrated that he and his colleagues left Hampden with nothing.
Speaking to RTÉ Sport, he said: "We controlled large parts of the game, in possession, and out of possession. Conceding so early in the second half wasn't ideal."
A point echoed by West Brom's Molumby, when saying: "In the first half we were excellent and well organised and we went in 1-0 at half-time. But didn't start the second half well enough and it ended up costing us.
We knew they were going to start quick in the second half, but we shouldn't be conceding so early. And then we had a couple of chances to finish the game. It's another game we should have won, just like the draw in Ukraine.
Regarding the penalty award for Scotland, Knight felt it was "harsh" but still alluded to the chances that followed thereafter, though he didn't single out Troy Parrott's missed opportunity when one on one with keeper Craig Gordon.
"Troy scores a lot of them goals so we'll put that bed," he added.
"On another day we go a goal or two up and the game changes on its head."
