Finn Harps 0-2 Bohemians

Finn Harps remain bottom of the Premier Division as Bohemians left the Donegal men rue several missed chances at Finn Park.

Declan McDaid and Jordan Doherty scored as Bohs struck agains the run of play to return to winning ways in Ballybofey.

Nine minutes into the second half, McDaid headed to the far corner from Kris Twardek's cross after Harps initially untidily cleared from the line.

On 84 minutes, Doherty gave Harps 'keeper James McKeown no chance with an excellent strike from 25 yards.

Harps could have been two down on the hour, but Chris Lotefa - just after he had one effort chalked off for an offside infringement - was unable to get strong enough purchase from close range and McKeown saved.

With Harps seeking a way back, Jon McCracken saved from Rob Slevin and Eric McWoods.

Harps’ chances took a tumble when Ryan Rainey was sent off as a 74th minute foul on Max Murphy brought out his second yellow card.

Bohs saw their hopes of European qualification evaporate with a 3-0 defeat to Shelbourne in the FAI Cup last weekend. Caretaker manager Derek Pender was ruthless in his response, making six changes to the team.

New recruit and Jordan international Jaime Siaj, who impressed in recent outings off the bench, was given a first start in Harps’ colours - and he might have had them in front in the first half.

Siaj was foiled by Ciaran Kelly’s 16th minute block, although the striker’s touch, having been picked out by McWoods, appeared a little heavy.

Siaj will feel he could have hit the target soon after, but rifled high into the Town End.

McWoods carved out another good open in the 38th minute and again Siaj was the recipient, but his shot went up and over.

Bohemians goalkeeper Jon McCracken denied Filip Mihaljević during a spell of good pressure from the home side, who will have been disappointed at the half-time stalemate.

McCracken denied Siaj two minutes into the second half after McWoods and Rainey linked up to create the opening, but the day soon flipped and Harps stay rooted to the bottom.
