Shelbourne 0-1 Peamount United

Stephanie Roche slotted home from close range in the 77th minute to give Peamount United a huge victory in their Women's National League collision at Shelbourne on Saturday night.

Roche finished off a good move after good work from Sadhbh Ryan Doyle to settle a close encounter and send the Peas top.

It was a ding-dong contest that could have gone either way but ultimately Peamount produced the game's decisive moment to get out of Tolka Park with the points.

That means Shels have been knocked off top spot by Wexford Youths, with Peamount in third, six points off the summit.

Sligo 2-5 Galway WFC

Galway WFC came from behind to demolish Sligo Rovers 5-2 in this afternoon's clash in the Showgrounds.

In the first of a full programme of WNL action, Pamela McGrory put the hosts in front with an eighth-minute header. Galway weren't long waiting for an equaliser, Jamie Ericksen getting on the end of a corner two minutes later.

In a frenetic opening, McGrory put Sligo back in front on 14 minutes, side-footing home from close range, but that was as good as it got for the Bit O'Red.

Shauna Brennan levelled the game again eight minutes before half-time, finishing after a cleverly worked set-piece.

The visitors took control after the break, Bryce Reynolds scoring from yet another corner. Chloe Singleton pushed it out to 4-2, before Jenna Slattery made absolutely sure, ramming home the fifth with 20 minutes remaining.

DLR Waves 1-1 Athlone Town

DLR Waves and Athlone Town played out a draw at the UCD Bowl on Saturday afternoon.

The hosts, who entered the game 12 points adrift of third-placed Athlone, took the lead six minutes before the break when Kate Mooney stooped low to head home a cross from Sarah McKevitt.

Athlone equalised with just under 15 minutes remaining through Maddie Gibson after a fantastic run down the left from Gillian Keenan. Despite the mounting Athlone pressure, they just couldn't secure a winner.

Treaty United 0-4 Bohemians

Treaty United remain rooted to the bottom of the table after suffering a heavy home defeat at the hands of Bohemians.

The hosts were dogged in the opening 45 minutes and looked to be heading to the break on level terms, but conceded an own goal minutes from the interval.

Player of the match Abbie Brophy's second goal made it 3-0 to the visitors before a final goal put a gloss on the scoreline.

Wexford Youths 5-1 Cork City

Wexford Youths demolished second-from bottom Cork City that put them top of the table.

The game was finely poised at the break, with the visitors taking the lead through Christina Dring before an Aoibheann Clancy penalty levelled matters.

The second half however belonged to the hosts

A second Clancy penalty sent them on their way, while further goals from Ciara Rossiter, Ellen Molloy and Kylie Murphy rounded off a good night's work for the Wexford side.
