Manchester City have announced the signing of Spanish defender Sergio Gomez from Anderlecht.

The left-back, 21, has joined on a four-year deal after making 49 appearances for Anderlecht last term under former City captain and current Burnley boss Vincent Kompany.

Gomez left Barcelona's youth set-up to join Borussia Dortmund in January 2018, and went on to spend two seasons back in Spain on loan at Huesca before moving to Belgium last summer.

Matheus Nunes is heading to the Premier League

Wolves have agreed to pay what will be a club-record fee to Sporting Lisbon for Portugal midfielder Matheus Nunes.

Personal terms are still to be agreed with the 23-year-old but it's understood Wolves are optimistic of completing the signing of Nunes imminently after striking a deal for an initial €45m, with a further €5m in potential add-ons.

That eclipses the £35m (€40m) Wolves paid Porto for Fabio Silva in 2020.

The Brazil-born Nunes, who has attracted the attention of several leading clubs and had been linked with Manchester City and Liverpool, would be Bruno Lage's third signing of the summer.

Wolves have already completed deals for Portugal forward Goncalo Guedes, who joined from Valencia, and Republic of Ireland defender Nathan Collins from Burnley.

Nunes, who turned down an opportunity to play for Brazil, made his debut for Portugal last year and has gone on to win eight caps, scoring one goal.
