Shane Long slotted home an early penalty on his return to the Madejski Stadium, equalising Callum O'Dowda's early goal as Reading came from behind to take the spoils at home to Cardiff City.

Long, in his first home game for Reading since departing the club back in 2011, slipped home a 27th minute penalty as the home fans serenaded the Irish striker with chants of 'There's only one Shane Long'.

His international teammate O'Dowda had put the visitors in front early with a fifth minute header. A second-half stunner from Tom Ince delivered a first victory of the season for Paul Ince's side.

James McClean was on target at Carrow Road as Norwich were made to wait again for their first win of the season on their Championship return as they drew 1-1 against promoted Wigan.
