St Patrick's Athletic and Sligo Rovers could meet heavyweights in the next stage of European competition after pots were confirmed for the Europa Conference League play-off draws on Tuesday.

The Saints face CSKA Sofia (Bulgaria) and the Bit O'Red play Viking (Norway) in the third round after their victories last week, with the first legs of the ties taking place on Thursday.

Another win for Pat’s would see them move on to a tie against one of four possible clubs, including Serie A side Fiorentina.

For Sligo, they could face Spanish giants Villarreal if they progress.

St Pat’s possible opponents are:

  • Brondby IF (Denmark) or FC Basel (Switzerland)
  • Breidablik (Iceland) or Istanbul Basaksehir (Turkey)
  • FC Kyzylshar (Kazhkstan) or APOEL (Cyprus)
  • Fiorentina (Italy)

Sligo Rovers ’s possible opponents are:

  • Neftçi (Azerbaijan) or Rapid Vienna (Austria)
  • Villarreal (Spain)
  • Dunajska Streda (Slovakia) or Fotbal Club FCSB (Romania)
  • Maccabi Tel Aviv (Israel) or Aris Thessaloniki (Greece)

The draws takes place at noon on Thursday.

Shamrock Rovers will be in two draws depending on the outcome of their Europa League third round against Skhupi of North Macedonia which starts this week.

The winner of the tie will enter the play-off stage for the Europa League and be guaranteed a minimum of group stage entry to the Conference League.

The loser will be in the play-off of the Conference League.

The pots for both draws are likely to be announced later today.
