Seamus Coleman was among the goals as Everton clinched a precious 3-0 victory over Leeds United at Goodison Park to give manager Frank Lampard his first Premier League win since taking charge at the end of last month.

The win eased relegation concerns and moved 16th-placed Everton to 22 points, five clear of the drop zone. Leeds are a point ahead in 15th, having played a game more.

Everton came out firing and could have gone ahead through Anthony Gordon after a just a minute but the youngster was denied by a last-ditch tackle from Luke Ayling, before Coleman made their early pressure count, finishing off an intricate team move with a diving header at the far post.

Leeds almost grabbed an equaliser against the run of play in the 18th minute when Rodrigo's dipping effort from distance struck the bar, but Everton continued to drive forward and doubled their lead through Michael Keane five minutes later.

The visitors made two changes at the break, bringing on Tyler Roberts and Adam Forshaw for Raphinha and Mateusz Klich, but Leeds barely troubled Jordan Pickford, failing to hit the target despite seeing more of the ball.

Gordon wrapped up the points in the 78th minute when Richarlison's left-footed effort from the edge of the area took a slight deflection off him before squeezing past Illan Meslier.

Neal Maupay set Brighton on their way

Brighton gave Watford's new manager Roy Hodgson a first home Premier League game to forget as they ran out 2-0 winners at Vicerage Road.

Neal Maupay gave the Seagulls the lead shortly before the end of an otherwise quiet first half, spinning round to his left as he hoisted a long ball from Tariq Lamptey into the far corner beyond the reach of Watford keeper Ben Foster.

Watford's top scorer Emmanuel Dennis came within a whisker of equalising shortly after the hour mark when he collected a half-clearance on the wing, cut inside past Brighton's defenders and smashed a shot off the bar from 10 metres out.

Instead, Adam Webster doubled the lead for Graham Potter's men in the 82nd minute from close range, firing in a loose ball after Watford were unable to clear from a corner kick.

Watford have now lost their last six home games in the league, matching their longest losing run at Vicarage Road since 1990. They sit 19th in the table with 15 points from 23 games.

Brighton, who have lost only once away from home all season, are ninth on 33 points.

Brentford ended their run of Premier League defeats on the day new signing Christian Eriksen was introduced to the fans but a 0-0 draw at home to Crystal Palace did little to soothe the club's relegation jitters.

A dreadfully dull game was crying out for the watching Dane's flair as defences ruled the day and the two teams cancelled each other out.

Brentford, who have dropped close to the bottom three after five successive defeats from a tough run of fixtures, had marginally the better opportunities to break the deadlock.

Bryan Mbeumo went close in the first half but could not poke his shot past Palace keeper Vicente Guaita who also saved from Pontus Jansson.

Home keeper David Raya, like his opposite number, had a quiet afternoon but did well to keep out a dipping effort from James McArthur after the break.

There was an anxious moment for Brentford in stoppage time when Wilfried Zaha went down in the penalty area but referee Simon Hooper saw nothing wrong.
