Former St Patrick's Athletic midfielder Alfie Lewis has joined League One Plymouth Argyle on a free transfer after his contract with the League of Ireland club expired.

The 22-year-old had a successful loan from his boyhood club West Ham to the Inchicore outfit last year, scoring three goals in 31 appearances and staying on until the end of the season after his contract with the Hammers ran out in July.

He is the latest high-profile player to depart the league runners-up and FAI Cup champions after Robbie Benson, John Mountney and Sam Bone followed manager Stephen O'Donnell to Dundalk.

Lee Desmond has also departed to Sacramento but Anto Breslin (Bohemians), Tunde Owolabi (Finn Harps), Mark Doyle and Joe Redmond (both Drogheda United) have all joined.

Plymouth manager Steven Schumacher said, "Alfie was a good prospect at West Ham and has gone and played a year of men’s football in Ireland.

"He is a player we highlighted in the summer and we feel he is one we can develop and hope he can be a big player for us now and in the future."

Kacper Kozlowski in action for Poland

Brighton have signed Poland international Kacper Kozlowski from Pogon Szczecin for an undisclosed fee.

The 18-year-old midfielder has agreed a contract until June 2026 at the Amex Stadium, subject to international clearance.

Kozlowski, who has been capped six times by his country, will be loaned out to Belgian league leaders Royale Union St-Gilloise for the remainder of the 2021-22 campaign.

The Premier League Seagulls have a track record of recruiting young talent from abroad and loaning them out to gain experience, with current first-team players Jakub Moder and Alexis Mac Allister among those to have benefitted in recent seasons.

Albion head coach Graham Potter said in a statement: "During my time here, we have done very well in recruiting players for the future and Kacper is a similar signing. He is a very exciting young talent and a player I am really looking forward to working with in the future."

In June, Kozlowski became the youngest player to appear at the European Championship after coming off the bench in Poland's 1-1 Euro 2020 draw with Spain at the age of 17 years and 246 days, breaking the short-lived record of England midfielder Jude Bellingham.

He made 40 league appearances for previous club Pogon, scoring four times, including three this campaign.

Wolves have signed Japan international Hayao Kawabe from Grasshoppers.

The midfielder has penned a three-and-a-half-year deal at Molineux to become the club's first ever Japanese player.

He is expected to return to Switzerland at the end of January to complete the season on loan at Grasshoppers.

Kawabe has impressed in the Swiss Super League after joining from Sanfrecce Hiroshima last summer and has made 18 appearances, scoring four goals and assisting three.

The 26-year-old made his Japan debut against South Korea in March last year and has four caps, scoring once.
