Ex-Dundalk defender Sonni Nattestad's contract with Norwegian outfit FK Jerv has been cancelled just hours after his signing had been announced.
On Sunday, FK Jerv confirmed they’d landed the Faroe Islands international, who had been a free agent after his contract with the Lilywhites expired.
"The first signing of the year can finally be announced," the club said on their website.
"There's only one doctor's check-up left before everything's ready."
However the move has dramatically fallen through, with FK Jerv releasing a second statement later in the day that read: "FK Jerv and Sonni Nattestad have today decided to cancel the announced contract.
"The background is a case the player has been involved in and that we should have known about.
"The case Nattestad was involved in is not something we as a club can stand for or be associated with."
Nattestad joined Dundalk from Faroese team B36 Torshav side a year ago. The 6ft 6in centre-half has also previously had spells in Denmark and Norway.
