The Republic of Ireland will face Ukraine. Scotland and Armenia in next year's UEFA Nations League, after Thursday's draw in Nyon.
Manager Stephen Kenny will be relatively satisfied with the League B group, which will be played next June and September.
Ukraine are the top seeds of the group but endured a difficult World Cup qualifying campaign in which they won only two games, finishing second to France in their group.
Scotland have enjoyed a big upturn in fortunes under manager Steve Clarke, and have secured their play in the World Cup play-offs, where they will take on Ukraine in March.
Armenia meanwhile are one of the success stories of the Nations League, gaining promotion from League D to League B over the last two campaigns.
"My first impression is that it is a really competitive group," said Kenny.
"Ukraine got to the quarter-finals of the Euros, Scotland have won their last six matches and Armenia have really improved, finishing ahead of Iceland recently in their World Cup qualifying group.
"All of the teams are capable of taking points off each other so it is very exciting from our point of view.
"Obviously, we're third seeds in the group so not many people would expect us to win the group but that will certainly be our ambition."
Northern Ireland, who were relegated to League C in the 2020-21 competition, face 2004 European champions Greece in Group C2. They also face Kosovo and the winner of the playout tie between Cyprus and Estonia, which will be played in March next year.
England face a reunion with European champions Italy in League A along with Germany and Hungary.
Wales, promoted to League A following the 2020-21 Nations League competition, face tough opposition in the shape of Belgium, Holland and Poland.
