Jim Magilton has left his role as sporting director of Dundalk less than a year after taking up the position.

The former Northern Ireland midfielder was appointed to the position last December, and acted as interim manager following the departures of Shane Keegan and Filippo Giovagnoli in April. He returned to the sporting director position after Vinny Perth was confirmed for a second spell as head coach in June.

It's the latest change in what has been a busy week for the Lilywhites.

Earlier in the week, a consortium, understood to include understood former owner Andy Connolly and sports technology firm STATSports, agreed to purchase the club from American investment firm Peak6.

That was quickly followed by the news that Colm Murphy was returning as the club’s secretary, having previously held the role between 2013 and 2020.

"I would like to thank everyone that assisted me during my time at Dundalk FC," said Magilton.

"It is a great club with passionate supporters and I wish the new local consortium the very best."

The county Louth club added: "The club would like to thank Jim for his work at Oriel Park over the past 11 months and wish him the very best of luck in the future."
