Athlone Town have confirmed the appointment of Martin Russell as their manager for next season.
Russell will succeed Paul Doolin, who took over from Adrian Carberry in August and led Town to a seventh-place finish in the First Division, but opted against extending his stay.
"I am absolutely delighted to be joining Athlone Town AFC as its men's first team manager," he said.
"With the potential the club has, I am determined to make Athlone Town AFC as successful as possible in 2022," he added.
Russell's last League of Ireland involvement was a brief stint with Bray Wanderers in 2018, and has also taken charge of Limerick and UCD.
He has also served as both a player and assistant manager with St Patrick's Athletic.
