Ex-Drogheda United midfielder William Hondermarck has been called up to the Republic of Ireland Under-21 squad for the European Championship qualifiers against Italy and Sweden.
The 20-year-old replaces the injured Ryan Johansson in the squad and the France-born player will link up with Jim Crawford's set-up on Tuesday.
Ireland face Italy on Friday, 12 November at Tallaght Stadium before Sweden are the visitors the following Tuesday at the same venue. Both games will be live on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player.
The Boys In Green are currently fourth in the group standings after two wins, a draw and a defeat from the opening four games in games against Bosnia & Herzegovina, Luxembourg and Montenegro.
Hondermarck currently plays for Barnsley where he has made five Championship appearances this season, earning his first start against Middlesbrough in October.
He was part of Drogheda's squad for the 2018 season, before signing for Norwich City in January 2019. He joined Barnsley in September after being released by the Canaries following a loan spell at Harrogate Town at the end of last season.
