PEAK6 Investments, the US company which owns Dundalk FC, has acquired a minority share in the holding company of Premier League side Wolves.

PEAK6 have invested in Fosun Sports – the group charged with operating Wolves and its business links.

PEAK6 will become a strategic partner to Wolves and according to a statement on the English midland's club's website, "will help Fosun Sports accelerate the club’s growth in North America by providing capital, expertise, visibility, and activation opportunities for Wolves and Wolves E-sports across the USA."

There is already one link established between the parties, with PEAK6 owner of E-sports company Evil Geniuses, a partner of the Premier League side.

PEAK6 have owned Dundalk for close to four years, taking over after they reached the group stages of the Europa League.

While the Lilywhites did continue their success on the pitch, things have dipped for the club in recent times and a number of star players have left.

Dundalk have been fighting against the relegation play-off position this season despite being expected to challenge for the title after significant investment in a host of new players.

Key players Michael Duffy and Patrick McEleney are joining the exodus at the end of the season after signing pre-contract agreements with Derry City and others are expected to follow.

As well as Dundalk, the firm formerly owned stakes in AS Roma, AFC Bournemouth and NHL franchise Minnesota Wild.

Wolves’ executive chairman Jeff Shi said: "We have been in deep conversation with PEAK6 for more than a year and we are delighted to welcome them officially to the Wolves family.

"Our organisations have great synergy, from our mutual desire to challenge conformity, our openness for collaboration, and of course our shared passion for sports, technology and achieving success through hard work, intelligence and innovation.

"Earlier this summer we announced a partnership with Evil Geniuses that saw us offer them a presence in China through our networks there, and now this partnership provides Wolves a firm foothold in all major areas of the globe: the USA and Americas, Europe and Asia.

"As well as great opportunities, we hope PEAK6 can help bring Fosun Sports and Wolves knowledge, wisdom and learning, and support Fosun Sports to become a sports industry group with global influence and much success."
