After the excitement of winning the First Division title last week, Shelbourne weren't quite at the pitch of it against Athlone Town at Tolka Park, with the sides playing out a 1-1 draw, a result that still keeps Paul Doolin's side in the hunt for a promotion play-off berth.

Both goals came in the opening half, with Shels going in front on 24 minutes when Brian McManus bundled home a Kevin O'Connor delivery from corner.

The equaliser came on 36 as Stephen Meaney headed home Glen McAuley's cross into the box.

Elsewhere first-half goals from Daniel O'Connell and Jake Hegarty set Cobh Ramblers on their way to 2-1 win away to Cabinteely, for whom Alex Aspil netted on 90.

Cork City trounced Wexford FC 4-0 at Turner's Cross. Cian Murphy and Barry Coffey goaled in the opening half, with Cian Bargary and Dylan McGlade adding to their tally in the second period.
