Dundalk winger Michael Duffy has signed a pre-contract agreement with Derry City which will see him return to his hometown club for the start of the 2022 season.
The Candystripes announced that he has agreed a four-year deal as he rejoins the club he departed in 2015.
The 27-year-old has been at Dundalk since 2017 after leaving Celtic following a two-year spell in Scotland where he did not make a first-team appearance for the Hoops but featured on loan for Alloa Athletic and Dundee.
The 2018 PFAI Player of the Year has won two League of Ireland titles, two FAI Cups as well as featuring in the Europa League group stages for Dundalk, who he signed a contract extension with in January.
The former youth international, who transferred his international eligibility from the North to the Republic of Ireland in February, came through the ranks at Derry before making his senior club debut in September 2012.
He went on to make 57 league appearances for the Candystripes, scoring 13 goals during his first spell.
Derry are currently fourth in the Premier Division, with Dundalk third-from-bottom after a difficult season.
