Aaron Connolly is out of the Republic of Ireland's World Cup qualifier against Serbia at the Aviva Stadium this evening.

The Brighton attacker has not been listed in the 23-man squad due to an injury. With Seamus Coleman also absent due to a hamstring problem, defenders Liam Scales and Cyrus Christie come into the matchday 23.

Connolly played both of Ireland's matches during this international window, against Portugal and again for the Azerbaijan encounter.

He was substituted at half-time against Azerbaijan and while there was no mention of an injury, the manager said that he felt the young striker was not able to produce the same levels as he had in the Portugal fixture.
