Swansea City have confirmed the signing of Republic of Ireland striker Michael Obafemi.

The 21-year-old joins the Championship club on a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee bringing an end to his five-year spell at Southampton where he had featured in the Premier League.

The Dublin-born forward's deadline day move is subject to international clearance.

Obafemi, who won his only Ireland senior cap to date against Denmark in a UEFA Nations League match in November 2018 during Martin O'Neill's time in charge, made 39 appearances for Southampton in all competitions since making his first-team debut against Tottenham in January 2018, including 31 in the Premier League where he had netted four goals.

But he had featured just once for the Saints this season in an 8-0 win over Newport County in the EFL Cup on 25 August.
