Just as the dust has settled on their fiery FAI Cup clash Dublin rivals Shamrock Rovers and Bohemians have both bolstered their panels with new additions.

The Hoops have landed former Ipswich Town defender Barry Cotter from Cork City.

The 22-year-old Ennis man began his senior career at Limerick, making his Ireland Under-19s debut against Norway in 2017 Norway at La Manga. His new team-mate Danny Mandroiu started the same game.

Cotter joined Mick McCarthy's Ipswich in January 2018 and but made just four first-team appearances in a little over three years. He left Portman Road in March of this year.

"We're delighted to sign Barry," said boss Stehen Bradley. "He has many of the attributes we look for in a player and we look forward to working with him."

Meanwhile Bohs have snapped up striker Cole Kiernan from Middlesbrough, subject to international clearance.

The 19-year-old spent a year with Boro's Under-23s having previously been with their local rivals Sunderland where he captained the club's U18s.

Kiernan is from nearby Hartlepool but qualifies for Ireland through his grandfather, and has previously featured in Ireland U18 squads.

"Cole will provide us with options up front and will add different qualities to help the team as we enter the last few months of the season," said Keith Long.

"We are looking forward to working with him, and we hope that the potential he has can be realised with us in a new environment."
