Bohemians goalkeeper James Talbot has been called into Stephen Kenny's Republic of Ireland squad for the World Cup qualifying games.

Ireland take on Portugal, Azerbaijan and Serbia and Talbot will be part of that squad, replacing Mark Travers who misses out through illness.

Talbot joins Gavin Bazunu and Caoimhin Kelleher in the squad, earning his second call-up, having been on the bench in 2019 for qualifiers against Denmark and Gibraltar.

Kenny's decision to bring Talbot into the squad over Darren Randolph will raise further question marks over the international future of the West Ham goalkeeper.

Randolph, who has 50 caps for Ireland, was not included in the original squad and while both he and Kenny confirmed last week that he is still available for selection for Ireland, he appears to have fallen deep down the pecking order.
