Republic of Ireland international Callum Robinson has tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of Ireland's upcoming triple-header of World Cup qualifiers.

West Brom manager Valerian Ismael confirmed that Robinson, along with goalkeeper David Button had contracted Covid-19 and would miss their Carabao Cup tie against Arsenal.

The news comes the day before Stephen Kenny names his squad for the series of World Cup qualifiers against Portugal, Azerbaijan and Serbia in September.

His absence will come as a severe blow to Kenny, the West Brom striker have started the season in fine form, with three goals in four Championship games.

Robinson previously contracted Covid-19 last November, missing Ireland's friendly away to England in Wembley.
