Glasgow City 3-0 Birkirkara
Republic of Ireland striker Clare Shine was on top form for Glasgow City as her brilliant opener set the Scottish outfit on their way to a 3-0 Round 1 semi-final defeat of Birkirkara in the Champions League.
Shine was taken off after 77 minutes having been at the heart of many of her side's best moments against the Maltese at Broadwood Stadium.
Just three minutes in she thumped home a brilliant strike from range to break the deadlock, and then almost got on the end of a Priscila Chinchilla five minutes later as Glasgow stormed out of the traps.
On 15 minutes Chinchilla doubled the hosts' lead with a precise effort from the edge of the area, and after Shine went close with a volley, Vital Kats bagged a third just before half-time to effectively kill the tie.
Shine threatened again in the second half with a well-struck free-kick but Glasgow failed to add any more goals as they eased into Saturday's Round 1 final, where they will face the winners of BIIK-Shymkent (Kazakhstan) and SK Slovan Bratislava (Slovakia). That game takes place on Wednesday afternoon.
Round 1 is one of two rounds before the 16-team group stage, which start in October.
There are two paths: the champions path, which Glasgow are on, and the league path. In both paths, round 1 consists of two stages, each of one-off matches: semi-finals and finals/third-place play-offs.
The winners of each final progress to Round 2.
