Shelbourne extended their lead at the top of the SSE Airtricity League First Division to 11 points on Friday night.
They beat Athlone Town 3-1 at Lissywollen while second-placed Galway were held to a scoreless draw by Bray at the Carlisle Grounds.
Athlone took an early lead through Stephen Meaney, but the Dublin club turned the game around before the break after Shane Farrell and Dayle Rooney found the range for them.
Rooney made the points safe late on with his second goal of the night.

Treaty United have joined Galway on 29 points after they beat UCD 2-1.
United took the lead through a Jack Lynch header in the first half, but the Students drew level shortly after the restart when Colm Whelan finished a penalty to the net for his 12th goal of the season.
But the hosts restored their lead within two minutes at Markets Field when Lynch nabbed his second goal of the night and it would prove to be the winner.
Meanwhile Wexford continued their better form under Ian Ryan as they picked up their fifth points since his arrival following a 0-0 with Cork at Ferrycarrig. The visitors had to play over half the game with 10 men after Alex Byrne was shown two yellow cards in the opening 45 minutes.
