Republic of Ireland international Tyler Toland has joined Celtic ahead of next season's Scottish Women's Premier League season.

The 19-year-old midfielder leaves Manchester City having spent last season on loan at Glasgow City.

Toland, who has not been selected by Ireland head coach Vera Pauw since she was an unused substitute for a game against Greece in November 2019, said the experience at Glasgow would help her adapt to life at their city rivals.

"When I spoke to Fran (Alonso, Celtic head coach) I knew it was a perfect fit for me. The way he plays his football, his training and philosophy are definitely right for me, and Celtic's obviously a massive club and you can’t turn that opportunity down," she told the Celtic club website.

"I do think it'll help me knowing what the teams in the league are like, how they play and having seen the full run of the league. I obviously seen Celtic last season as well and I was very impressed with them so I’m really looking forward to the season ahead."
