Serie A club Napoli have appointed former Roma and Inter Milan manager Luciano Spalletti to succeed Gennaro Gattuso, who has since taken over as Fiorentina boss.

Spalletti is a two-time Serie A Coach of the Year and this will be his first managerial position since being dismissed as Inter Milan manager in 2019.

Despite securing Champions League football following their 2-1 victory over Empoli on the final day of that campaign, Spalletti's two-year reign came to an end.

Gattuso was unable to achieve that earlier this month as a 1-1 draw with Hellas Verona on the final day of the season ensured that the Naples side will be competing in the Europa League next season.
