SSE Airtricity League Premier Division champions Shamrock Rovers will be hoping to return to winning ways ahead of the mid-season break when they travel to Bishopsgate to take on Longford Town at 4pm.

Rovers have picked up just a single point in their last three outings, with a 1-1 draw against Derry City on 15 May followed up by a 2-1 loss to Dundalk and a 1-0 defeat to Sligo Rovers, with the latter result costing them pole position in the division.

However, they're are heavy favourites to record a first win in four outings against a Longford outfit with just onw league win to their name this season.

Team news

Callum Warfield remains sidelined for the hosts, while Sam Verdon (thigh) and Shane Elworthy (concussion) are doubts ahead of Saturday's encounter.

Shamrock Rovers will be without the injured Joey O'Brien and Ronan Finn. Finn will be sidelined for a number of weeks after undergoing minor surgery on Wednesday.

What they said

"We can get a result," Longford boss Daire Doyle told Shannonside FM News. "We think that going into every game, that's what we tell the players but we can a result off Rovers.

"It's the last game before the break and we’re coming off the back from the Drogheda United on Monday which was really disappointing.

"They have big ambitions of wining this league and now have lost the last two games so they will want to get back up on the horse very quickly".

Doyle's opposite number Stephen Bradley is refusing to write off Longford despite their league position.

"I think when you watch their games they've been in every game," he told the club website. "They’ve had chances in all of them and it was a really difficult game in Tallaght, so we expect the same tomorrow night.

"We just need to concentrate on what we do and bring what we brought against Dundalk. If we have that level of performance the result will look after itself. We'll just concentrate on what we do and make sure we get back to our levels."

Elsewhere, Bohemians host Waterford FC at 4pm.

The Gypsies will be buoyed by the 5-1 thrashing of Dundalk, while Marc Bircham is still searching for a first league point as the new boss at the RSC.

Team news

Bohemians: Tyreke Wilson is suspended while Keith Buckley (leg), Rob Cornwall (ankle) and James Finnerty (wrist) are doubts. Stephen Mallon (metatarsal) could be named in the squad for the first time.

Waterford FC: Both Tunmise Sobowale and Oscar Brennan return to the side whilst Daryl Murphy, Prince Mutswunguma, Jack Stafford, Isaac Tshipamba, Kyle Ferguson remain out of the side. Some of which are awaiting covid clearance.

What they said

Keith Long (Bohemians manager): "Hopefully we can follow up Monday's win with a repeat performance.

"Waterford will be better prepared with Marc having more time on the training ground with his players, so we will have to produce a really good display and be ready for the challenge to get a result.

"Football can be unforgiving at times. We are a good team with good players who care for this club more than people will ever know.

"Our performance against St Pat's certainly warranted more and if we continue to perform to the levels we have shown in recent weeks, we will win more games.

"There is no doubt we need to manage games better and be ruthless when opportunities arise, but we are on the right path."

Mark Bircham (Waterford FC manager): "We've put in two great performances and got nothing out of them which is unfortunate but we're continuing to improve week on week. We have Tim and Oscar back which is a boost.

"We know that we'll have to put in a strong performance again today if we're to come away with a result. They've won two of their last three and play a very nice style of football. But as I tell the guys, we have to keep our composure, our chances will come and we must be ready to take them."
